The outstanding achievements of our young
Employment Buddy participants were celebrated recently at the program’s first graduation ceremony, co-hosted by Shaun Mays, Rise’s Director of Strategy and Growth, and Essential Personnel CEO Dawn McAleenan.
A joint initiative with
Essential Personnel, the Employment Buddy program provides an opportunity for young people with disability to develop skills and gain experience in the workplace by completing a twelve-week program of supported workshops and two work experience placements in an industry of their choice.
These young graduates now have the confidence and knowledge to go out into the world and begin the career they want – and several have already found work.
The graduation ceremony was attended by representatives from Rise and Essential Personnel, as well as many of the companies who supported the program by hosting a young person on placement.
Since this successful first cohort, the program has continued to support young people aged 15-24 gain the confidence and skills to get started in their careers. We’re still looking for businesses that may be willing to take a young person on for a four hour work placement, so if you are or know of an employer who may be interested, please don’t hesitate to
get in touch. Participating businesses will receive training and remuneration for their time.
