Over the last four years, Scott has been instrumental in supporting Jimmy to enhance his quality of life. Faced with unique challenges impacted by his experience with neglect, homelessness and disability, Jimmy has actively forged stronger connections with his housemates and community whilst being supported by Scott.
Seemingly routine tasks have been turned into opportunities for Jimmy to engage, participate and contribute to his household. Promoting a sense of achievement and creating a supportive and inclusive living environment. Through conversation that promote emotional engagement, Jimmy has improved his short-term memory. He now finds conversations meaningful.
Recognising Jimmy’s fond memories of socialising with friends and his love of music, Scott supported Jimmy to attend an AC/DC tribute show in Fremantle. During the event, Jimmy was confidently a “man of the people” and roamed the crowd, interacting with fellow rock & roll enthusiasts and fully immersing himself. Even during COVID lockdowns, Scott supported Jimmy to do a “virtual tour” of Leederville to reconnect and discover places Jimmy used to visit… and boy, did he have some stories!
We are very proud to have Scott on our team, and believe this is a well-deserved nomination.
