NAIDOC Week (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) occurs annually in July, and celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians all over the country and overseas.
This year’s theme is For Our Elders and celebrates the role Elders play is sharing their knowledge and experience, in everything from land management, culture to justice and human rights across multiple sectors like health, education, arts to politics. How you can help celebrate
NAIDOC Week is an opportunity for all Australians of all different ethnic backgrounds to learn more about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth. Here are some ways you can help celebrate:

- Watch films about our First Nations people and Indigenous Australian culture, such as: The First Inventors Documentary on National Indigenous Television (NITV) or Network 10 – a four part series that uncovers traditional knowledge and insights by a team of First Nations investigators, uncovering more than 65,000 years of invention and innovation.
