We are buzzing with excitement! Last night's As We Are Awards was an amazing event, showcasing the talent and artistry we have in our community. These awards highlight the talents of West Australian artists with intellectual disability, and the imagination and talent on display was just incredible.
Some of our Rise staff were lucky enough to head along to the opening night, and the gallery was so packed, you could barely move! Everyone was eager to get a closer look at the artwork.
Out of over 170 stunning artworks on display, a notable 67 were contributions from our very own Arts Hub in Warwick. We couldn't be prouder of our artists who, with their distinctive creations, snagged awards and turned heads!
Congratulations go to:
- Greg Carstens, who won the Contemporary Art Award for his striking painting, "Batchelor Brother in Law."
- Brendan Morris, honoured with the Judges Certificate of High Commendation for his drawing, "Disco Bird."
- Maria Perruza, who was presented with the Patti Ferber Creative Development Award for her vibrant mixed media series, "A Colourful Life."
- Malcolm Neilsen, who was presented with the Stephen Delower Memorial 3D Award for his engaging ceramic sculpture, "Does your Monkey Have a Licence?"
- And a special mention to Lynne Newport, whose artwork from last year was chosen as this year's branding theme - displayed across all the promotional assets, social media and signage!
Our heartfelt congratulations to all the award winners and participants. Your talent, dedication, and creativity truly enrich our community. We can't wait to see what you all come up with next year.
